Technical help

Is this website optimised for my web browser?

This website mostly conforms to the World Wide Web Consortium's DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict specifications, which should ensure that pages maintain the same appearance when viewed in all compatible web browsers. Specifically, this website has been tested in Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 6, 7 and 8, Mozilla Firefox 2, Google Chrome, Apple Safari and Netscape Navigator 9. Earlier web browsers will work to some extent but some features may not function correctly. The mobile version of this page should work in all web-enabled mobile phones.

And how about my screen resolution?

The page content width is 975 pixels and any screen resolution wider than this will display the website well. Typical resolutions are 1,024 x 768 pixels for standard-shaped monitors, or 1,366 x 768 for widescreen monitors. The mobile version of this page is designed for lower resolutions.

What is JavaScript, how is it useful on this website and how can I activate it?

JavaScript is a scripting language which allows dynamic content to be displayed and updated within web pages. It is client-side, rather than server-based, which means that the script operations are performed within your web browser, following your input. This website currently uses JavaScript to display maps (provided by Google Maps), allowing you to see precise photo shooting locations. JavaScript is also used to display adverts (provided by Google AdSense and Amazon) as well as offer basic search functionality.

What are web cookies and how can I allow them?

Cookies are small text-based files that websites may save to your computer in order to keep track of you as you browse between pages. They contain information that you have provided to the website, such as your display preferences and last visit date. The host website can specify an expiry period, after which the cookie will be removed from your computer. Alternatively, as a website user, you can remove cookies through your browser options. This website does not yet use cookies for any purpose but they will be required for certain features in a future version.

What "accessibility" features do you offer?

Our pages are designed to work well in all browsers and on all devices, including speech and braille units. All photos include meaningful descriptive text, while hard-of-hearing subtitles can be activated on all our videos. We aim to introduce access key functionality in summer 2010.
